Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Northstar, operated by Northstar Health Inc. ("Northstar", "we", "us"), a Delaware corporation. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree, do not use Northstar.

Northstar is an information and organization tool. It explains your lab results and vitals in plain language, shows trends over time, and helps you prepare questions for your care team. It is not a medical device, not a healthcare provider, and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Nothing in Northstar constitutes a diagnosis of any condition. Northstar will not name a diagnosis as fact, will not give medication or dosing guidance, and will not recommend changes to any treatment plan. Any explanation, trend, or visit summary Northstar produces is informational only and does not replace the judgment of a qualified clinician who knows your full history.

Medical decisions, including starting, stopping, or changing any medication or treatment, must involve your doctor, nurse practitioner, or other licensed healthcare professional.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call your local emergency services immediately (911 in the United States). Do not rely on Northstar in an emergency.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information when you sign up and keep it current.

You may not create an account on behalf of someone else without their consent. You may not share your account credentials.

We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, after notice where practicable.

You may use Northstar only for lawful purposes and only as permitted by these Terms. You agree not to:

• Use Northstar to provide medical advice to others or represent it as a medical or diagnostic tool.
• Attempt to reverse engineer, scrape, or extract data from Northstar's systems.
• Introduce malicious code, perform denial-of-service attacks, or attempt to gain unauthorised access.
• Use Northstar to store or transmit unlawful content.
• Misrepresent your identity or impersonate another person.

Northstar offers a free tier and paid subscription plans. All prices are in US dollars and are displayed at checkout and on our Pricing page.

Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you will not be charged for the next period.

We do not offer refunds for partial periods, except where required by law. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us at support@northstars.health and we will review it.

We may change prices on reasonable notice. If a price increase applies to your plan, we will notify you before the next renewal, and you may cancel if you do not agree.

You own the health data you enter into Northstar. We hold it solely to provide the service. We do not claim any ownership over your lab results, vitals, notes, or other health information.

You can export your data or permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Northstar and its content, software, and design are owned by Northstar Health Inc. or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You may not copy, distribute, or create derivative works from Northstar's content without written permission.

You retain ownership of the content you enter. You grant Northstar a limited licence to process and display your content solely to provide the service to you.

Northstar is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, Northstar Health Inc. disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that Northstar will be uninterrupted, error-free, or accurate. Plain-language explanations and visit summaries are informational and may be incomplete. They are not a substitute for professional medical judgment.

Reference ranges displayed in Northstar are general adult ranges for context. They may differ from the ranges used by your laboratory. Always refer to the range printed on your own lab report and discuss results with your clinician.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Northstar Health Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, even if we were advised of the possibility.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of Northstar will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or US $100, whichever is greater.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Northstar Health Inc. and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of Northstar, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of another person.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware and the federal laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to that jurisdiction.

Before bringing any formal claim, please contact us at legal@northstars.health and give us a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you by email and by posting the updated Terms with a new effective date. If the changes are material, we will give you reasonable notice before they take effect. Continued use of Northstar after the update means you accept the revised Terms.
