Your data belongs to you.
Northstar stores what you give it so it can do its job. Here is exactly what that is, how it is protected, and how to take it all with you or delete it entirely whenever you want.
Three things, plainly stated.
Northstar stores only what it needs to be useful to you. Nothing more.
Your results and vitals
Lab values you enter or upload, vitals you record, and free-text notes about how you are feeling. Everything you give Northstar to explain and track.
Trends and history
The record of your values over time that powers trend views and visit summaries. Kept so your picture stays accurate as you add more.
Your account information
Your name and email address for signing in and communicating with you. Nothing more.
Your health data is treated carefully.
Encrypted at rest and in transit
Your health data is encrypted wherever it lives and whenever it moves. We use industry-standard encryption throughout.
Never sold
Northstar does not sell your personal information or health data to any third party, including data brokers, advertisers, or research organizations.
Not used to train public models
When Northstar uses an AI model to generate an explanation, your data is processed under a data agreement that prohibits using it to train public models.
Export your data
You can download a complete copy of everything Northstar holds about you at any time. The export is a plain JSON file that includes all your results, trends, profile information, and account details. No special software is needed to read it.
Find it in Settings / Your data / Export inside the app.
Delete your account
Deleting your account permanently removes all your results, trends, and profile from Northstar's systems. This is not a soft delete or an archive. Your data is gone.
Deletion typically completes within 30 days as it propagates through backups. We keep records the law requires us to keep, such as billing records, but not your health data.
Find it in Settings / Your data / Delete account inside the app.
Who can see your data.
Your data is visible to you and to the parts of Northstar's software that need it to do a specific job, such as generating an explanation or a visit summary. Northstar employees can access account data only when needed to support you, and only with appropriate controls in place.
On a Family plan, if you choose to share a view with someone, Northstar shares only what you explicitly allow, and only with the people you specify. You can change or remove that access at any time from Settings.
We never sell your data.
